This is a One Name Study to collect together in one place everything about the surname Wall and its variants. The hope is that other researchers like you will join our study to help make it a valuable reference point for people studying lines that cross or intersect. Please contact the project leader, add categories to your profiles, add your questions to the bulletin board, add details of your name research, etc.

DNA

A deep line of Walls, related to a deep line of Pittmans, is discussed at the CTP DNA Study. Any male Wall/Walls who thinks he may be related should join the Wall DNA Project project link. The project seeks more testers. Since Y-DNA is passed from father to son, any two Walls who share a common patrilineal ancestor will match each other on Y-DNA. Especially needed: Walls who can trace their lineage back to Europe. This applies to all distinct lines.

I have recently obtained a copy of "Walls Kilt and Kin" Genealogy book which is about 825-850 pages long. It has walls listed all the way back to 1360 in Limerick, Ireland then to England and onto America Settling in Portsmouth, NH somewhere around the 1600's. I am fairly new to wiki tree but if anyone would like information from this book I can try to scan and upload to you.

It has history of the walls, the family crest and some documents. Part of the information came from the Library of Congress, from different County Clerks offices, graveyards and family records. I will be glad to share with anyone that needs this information.

I have tested Y-DNA to 111 markers at FTDNA and have no "Wall" matches above 12 markers. I have matches at 67 markers in the Scandinavian area. My family tree takes the family back to Bromsgrove, England in the early 1600's. Does this fit any of your family characteristics?
